<\/p>\nA British national, known online as “IntelBroker,” has been indicted in the United States for the global theft and sale of sensitive data, allegedly causing damages estimated at $25 million.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has made public the charges against Kai West, a 25-year-old individual associated with the alias “IntelBroker.” The indictment outlines a prolonged effort to steal data from various sectors, including government agencies, corporations, and critical infrastructure providers.<\/p>\n
The data obtained by West was frequently listed for sale on BreachForums, a hacking community. Stolen information encompassed sensitive healthcare records, internal documents from telecommunications and cybersecurity firms, as well as user data from multiple online platforms.<\/p>\n
IntelBroker has gained notoriety for involvement in significant breaches affecting organizations such as Europol, General Electric, Weee!, AMD, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Nokia, and DC Health Link.<\/p>\n

The four-count indictment presents charges against West for conspiracy to commit computer intrusions, wire fraud, conspiracy to conduct wire fraud, and unauthorized access to a protected computer to extract information. If convicted, three of these charges could result in a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.<\/p>\n
The Department of Justice (DOJ) reports that West’s actions have led to damages totaling approximately $25 million across numerous victims. Furthermore, recent reports indicate that West was arrested in February 2025, and U.S. authorities are currently pursuing his extradition to New York.<\/p>\n
The complaint details the FBI’s investigative process leading to the identification of IntelBroker, also known as “Kyle Northern.” In January 2023, an undercover agent reportedly purchased a stolen API key from West. The Bitcoin address used in the transaction was traced back to a wallet linked to an account registered to a UK driving license in West’s name. Correlation of the email account associated with the Ramp banking platform revealed it was also connected to a Coinbase account under the alias “Kyle Northern,” which contained personal documentation, including his university emails and identification.<\/p>\n
“The IntelBroker persona has inflicted significant financial harm on victims globally,” stated U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton. “This case underscores the FBI’s ongoing commitment to tracking down cybercriminals operating on a global scale. Residents of New York frequently face the repercussions of such cyber schemes, and we are dedicated to holding these distant perpetrators accountable.”<\/p>\n
