A cybercriminal organization successfully infiltrated the public benefits portal of the state in July, remaining undetected in the network’s backend for a duration of five months. During this period, the group generated numerous firewall alerts before exfiltrating multiple gigabytes of sensitive data pertaining to Rhode Island residents in November.

The RIBridges system, which is managed by Deloitte—a multinational firm with a valuation of approximately $67.2 billion—was compromised during this incident.
